Frequently Asked Questions

Q.  What type of Activity Kits do you offer?

A
.  We offer Mini-Kits (one day activities), One Week Kits, and Monthly Subscription Kits.  See our Activity Kits Comparison Sheet to compare their contents.

Q.  What age group are the activities intended for?
A. The activities are geared toward children ages 3 to 6, although we’ve known older kids and adults to enjoy these activities!

Q.  Are these kits tax-deductible?
A.  Not at this time, however homeschoolers may be able to use grant money to purchase our kits. Contact us to find out how.

Q.  What’s the difference between the free printables I can get on-line and the Fun-In-A-Box Canada kits?
A.  Our kits provide materials with craft activities.
Our activities address specific groups of developmental skills which are listed for your convenience. All of our activities are relevant to a child’s real life experience and incorporate concepts and skills in an authentic way.

Q.  Why are themes important?  As long as the kids are busy, they’re learning, right?
A.  By studying themes, children take isolated facts and place them into meaningful and personally relevant contexts.  When education is integrated across all subjects and areas of development, children are able to see how knowledge and skills in one area are relevant in other areas.

Q.  Do you include Circle Time activities for the monthly subscription kits?
A.  Yes. Our Essentials Kit includes Calendar and Weather activities suitable for group learning and all the Monthly Kits and Weekly Kits and many of the Mini Kits include songs, games and activities suitable for “Circle Time.”

Q.  Do your monthly subscription kits have a Teaching Guide?
A.  We offer a monthly planning calendar that suggests activities for each day based on offering a variety of activities over the course of a week.  Of course, you can follow the calendar or substitute your own as your schedule permits.  Our Essentials Kit offers a sample preschool schedule, with general suggestions for fitting Fun-In-A-Box Canada activities into your daily routine, as well as fun daily calendar and weather related activities. Each daily activity comes with a set of detailed instructions to make it easy for you to have everything ready to go.

Q.  How do I order and receive the monthly subscription kits?
A.  You can order the Monthly Subscription Kits by number of months, specific months, and by the number children via on-line, e-mail, or phone.  We accept credit or debit via Paypal, and money orders. Once your payment in full is processed, your entire order will be mailed to you by Expedited Parcel, unless otherwise agreed upon.

Q.  Do your subscription kits follow a school year schedule ie. September to June?
A.  Subscription kits are year-round, so you can order the September kit through to the following year’s August kit.

Q.  Why do you need 6 weeks to process the subscription orders?
A.  As order volumes vary each month, and each request is processed in the order that we receive them, 6 weeks is the maximum length of time to ensure timely shipment.  So in some cases, your order may arrive in a shorter time.

Q.  Can I order my monthly subscriptions on a month-to-month basis instead of months in advance?
A.  Yes.  You would just order by on-line, e-mail, or phone 6 weeks before you need the next month’s kit.

Q.  Can I choose my own themes for the monthly subscription orders?
A.  You can choose the specific month(s) that have the themes you prefer or choose theme-specific activities via our Mini and One Week Kits.

Q.  Do you offer volume discounts?
A.  Yes, when you place an order for a 3 Month Subscription, you will receive 12% off the price of ordering each month individually.

Q.  Do you have a guide included on how and when to use the activities?
A.  All activities have full instructions and each kit includes a suggested calendar of activities.  However, wouldn’t you much prefer to build the activities into your day as you feel appropriate?

Q.  Why aren’t art supplies included in the subscription kits?
A.  As our main markets are those in the home daycare and homeschool environments, many clients already have their own set of art supplies, and/or prefer to purchase their own supplies as they need them.  This also ensures a more cost-effective kit.  You can purchase our Starter Supplies kit, which includes, scissors, crayons, glue, smock, tape, etc…your basic art supplies.

Q.  Are the paper materials in your craft activities all pre-cut?
A.  No, because our philosophy is to provide each child the opportunity to optimize his own learning and competency.  The paper craft materials are prepared to their appropriate sizes, and templates and/or pre-printed shapes on craft papers are provided so children have cutting references.   We also use a variety of craft medium to promote creativity and imagination.

Q.  What's the difference between Fun-In-A-Box Canada and other preschool curriculum providers?
A. We are a Canadian company and our calendar follows Canadian holidays.

A. We make sure our activities have an authentic learning component and are not just “busy work.”  If you would like to add worksheets to your child’s curriculum, there are plenty available in either low cost workbooks or free online. We prefer the Fun-In-A-Box Canada activities to be relevant to a child’s understanding of the world as a whole and incorporate basic math and literacy into our thematic activities.

Q.  Do you have a customer referral program?
A.  Yes! For every 3 new customers you refer, who make their first purchase totaling $125 or more (excluding shipping and taxes), you will receive free shipping on your next purchase.
